The American Immigration Council, an organization that does great work fighting for immigrants, annually honors immigrants of achievement. This year they have selected Cambodian-born Luong Ung who has been the national spokeswoman for Campaign for a Landmine-free World. She's worked on that worthy cause for 13 years. Ms. Ung came to America as a refugee of the "Killing Fields" in her native country and has paid the goodwill back by working on a cause that few would argue is vitally important. Its not an issue. Make sure u fill all ur future applications like ssn, green card etc as per your passport. also ur birth certificate should be like ur passport details name date of birth and place of birth.

There is an excellent article in Wall Street Journal by a former Reagan staffer discussing what would Pres. Reagan do today on immigration. For most of the Republicans Pres. Ugandan-born Charles Wesley Mumbere, a former nurse's aide in Maryland and Pennsylvania, was crowned king of Uganda's 300,000-strong Rwenzururu Kingdom. Mumbere was sent to the US in 1984 as a young man in order to get an education. In 1987, he sought political asylum due to political upheaval in his country. He trained as a nurse's aide in the US and kept his royal status a secret for most of the last quarter century. Can some one reply to my post please. My question is regarding EAD only. Once I apply for EAD and go to India what happens
1. If I am not there while it approved? Can my frnd send me the EAD to India?
2. if I get called for finger printing for EAD and if dont go for it? Will my AOS will be treated as abandoned?

I am currently on H1B visa which will expire next year ie Nov2011. My employer just stated that due to economic conditions, they will not be able to file my GC.
My husbands company has already started his GC process ( his labor n I140 is done)but my name isnt on his application yet. We are waiting for the date to become current n then my name can be added on is 485 application as his dependent. His PD is Aug 08.
Basically I was interested in knowing abt future based employment GC. Has anyone done that before?
Is anyone aware of companies who would be interested in doing it. I just need to buy like max 2-3 years ....just to keep my H1B extensions going. I like my current job so really want to avoid changing it unless there r no other options left basically.
Pls suggest me options that I have to get H1B extension after Nov 2011 and continue working.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I Lost my I797A (but having photo copy) . I want to go to my Home country on emergency for 2 weeks and return to US.
Will I get visa stamping with
1. Copy of I797A and Employee's related documents ?
2. Copy of I797A and Employee's related documents + Proof of Duplication Request ?
3. Whether Duplication form (I-824) Should be separately filed for L1 & L2 ?
Please guide me Immediately.

I work for company A which sponsored my L1B (my current visa status). Also, few years back company B sponsored my H1B which for some reason I did not utilize (did not even get it stamped) and hence company B cancelled it. Now my questions are -
1. Can L1-B be transferred to H1-B without going through a new visa application?
2. Can the cancelled H1-B be re-instated and utilized?
3. If another company C applies for my H1-B what are the chances of getting it looking at the current work visa regulations and prospective changes? Will my past petition of H1-B cause some issues with consulate?
4. My wife is on L2 and as EAD. Once I file for change of status will the EAD still be valid or it will automatically be void?
Please Help...

I have EB2 PERM and EB3 I140 approved. Since my EB3 PD date is earlier than EB2 PD , my lawyer filed my 485 with EB3 I140.
Is there any way to find from 485 receipt or application which I140 was used for filing ?

As long as the Master Program in UK is equivalent to Masters in US, you should be good.
You can get your credentials evaluated in US and see if its a Masters equivalent.

I am panning to file I 485 before July 31st. Also I am planning to go on vacation to India around Aug 10th. The trip to India is unavoidable.
Experts please answer the following question:
1) Both me and my wife are on H1 and it has to be stamped. Will I 485 Filing have any adverse impact on the H1 Stamping ?
2) Will leaving the country for vacation without the I 485 receipt have any impact on the I 485 process.

As per AC-21, you can just do H1 b transfer and keep ur already applied I-485 running as you have crossed 6 months.
Lets say, after getting EAD and AP and 6 months after filing for I-485, you want to switch jobs to another company but want to do an H1B transfer to a similar position. Do we still have to start the green card process from scratch to remain on H1B?

Can someone please tell me on how to reach the customer service personal? What are the options to press after 1-800-375-5283.
I received a Biometric Apt. through my attorney a month back and I appeared for the apt. The time was coincided with my move so it went to attorney and didnt come to my address.
Now I received another notice dated one month later than the first one. So I want to talk to them and findout if it necessary to appear again.
